This three-part series was designed for primary care associations (PCAs), behavioral health state associations (BHSAs), and provider members considering or interested in network formation and value-based contracting as a network. All sessions included both didactic and Q&A portions.

Session 1: Lessons Learned from Network Formation
Andrew Principe of Starling Advisors presented on a 10-year look back at lessons learned from safety-net provider networks. Participants reviewed a brief history of Network activity, takeaways, and priorities for future work.
Session 2: Effective Strategies for Negotiation
In the second session, Adam Falcone of Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell LLP, focused on negotiations with payers. He explained how to identify and use leverage points, offered guidance on how to review value-based contracts, and described tried and tested negotiating tips.
Session 3: Legal Considerations for Value-Based Contracts
In the third session, Adam Falcone presented on legal considerations for network formation and value-based payment contracting. He addressed legal concerns for participating in value-based arrangements, explained antitrust considerations for networks seeking to negotiate payer contracts, and defined key value-based contracting terms.
